Job Purpose
Ensure the safety, compliance, and efficiency of baggage operations by leading inspections, coordinating with stakeholders, monitoring performance, and supporting project activities to align with organizational goals and standards.
Position Accountability Description
Strategic Leadership:
1. Develop and implement baggage operations strategies that align with DACO’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
2. Manage the coordination of baggage operations initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
3. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of baggage operations and drive continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence:
4. Manage daily operations by overseeing team activities, resolving issues, and ensuring adherence to policies, maintaining smooth and efficient departmental functioning.
5. Implement process improvements by analyzing current practices, identifying inefficiencies, and applying best practices, resulting in increased productivity and reduced costs.
6. Lead round-the-clock inspections, enforcement, and oversight of all baggage operations, ensuring systems and equipment are regularly inspected and maintained, and coordinating cleaning and maintenance work to uphold high standards of safety and efficiency.
7. Organize full coordination with all government agencies to facilitate safe and efficient baggage operations.
8. Oversee collaboration with baggage handling contractors to optimize operations, system safety, cleanliness, and availability.
9. Guide and align HOF and AQI baggage operations with overall organizational goals and standards, facilitating smooth and efficient baggage handling processes.
10. Support the successful delivery of baggage-related project activities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet operational requirements.
11. Participate in project planning and execution, providing insights and recommendations to optimize project outcomes.
Stakeholder Management:
12. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective baggage operations.
13. Communicate baggage operations performance and updates to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development:
14. Provide guidance and mentorship to the baggage operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
15. Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the baggage operations team.
16. Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team members to meet their objectives.
Financial Management:
17. Control unit’s budgets by monitoring expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and making necessary adjustments, ensuring financial accountability and resource optimization.
18. Ensure the highest levels of safety and compliance across all baggage operations and facilities, adhering to GACA requirements and international best practices, while developing and implementing policies to maintain and enhance safety standards.

21. Stay updated on industry best practices and innovations in baggage handling to continuously improve operations.
