- Conduct daily inspections of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) to identify wear and tear, malfunctions, and potential system failures.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime and prolong system life.
- Address malfunctions and perform repairs on system components such as conveyors, sensors, motors, and belts.
- Ensure timely response to reported issues by diagnosing and rectifying faults in the BHS equipment.
- Use monitoring tools and software to ensure optimal performance of the BHS and immediately address any abnormalities.
System Optimization
- Perform regular calibration of sensors, scanners, and sorting devices to maintain high accuracy in baggage tracking and sorting.
- Identify potential system improvements and make recommendations for upgrading or modifying BHS processes and equipment.
- Conduct regular performance tests after maintenance activities to ensure system efficiency and safety.
- Monitor energy consumption of the BHS system and propose energy-saving solutions where applicable.
Compliance and Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and conduct regular safety inspections of the BHS to prevent accidents.
- Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to BHS operations and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory standards (e.g., IATA, ICAO) and manufacturer guidelines.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with the airport’s operations team to ensure minimal disruption of baggage handling services during maintenance activities.
- Communicate with vendors and manufacturers for technical support, parts replacement, and warranty services.
- Document and report any major incidents, breakdowns, or maintenance challenges to the relevant stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including system inspections, repairs, and parts replacement.
- Prepare and submit regular performance and maintenance reports to management, outlining system efficiency, downtime, and corrective measures taken.
- Document and analyze system failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze maintenance processes and identify areas for improvement, recommending and implementing best practices.
- Participate in the development and testing of new maintenance technologies and methodologies.
- Provide feedback on maintenance procedures and tools to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure effective maintenance operations.
- Support positive relationships with stakeholders by providing accurate information and timely updates on maintenance activities.
Team Collaboration and Development:
- Work collaboratively with team members to perform maintenance tasks, sharing knowledge and providing support to ensure smooth operations.
- Pursue continuous learning by attending training sessions and staying updated on industry trends, enhancing personal skills and professional growth.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Security Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in BHS and security screening management, preferably in an airport or large facility setting
- Preferred: Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
