Job Purpose
Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all electrical and power systems at the airport by managing maintenance activities, overseeing installations, supervising staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Support seamless airport operations by maintaining optimal functionality and safety of electrical systems and power generation infrastructure.
Position Accountability Description
Operational Excellence:
1. Oversee the maintenance and operation of electrical systems throughout the airport, ensuring all systems, including wiring, electrical panels, switchgears and circuit breakers, are functioning safely and efficiently, and addressing any issues promptly.
2. Manage the installation and upgrade of electrical equipment and infrastructure, ensuring all projects meet operational needs, regulatory standards, and safety codes, coordinating closely with contractors and vendors.
3. Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical systems and equipment, including detailed plans for routine inspections, servicing, and part replacements to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
4. Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to detect faults and inefficiencies and taking corrective action as needed.
5. Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international electrical codes and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and training sessions to maintain a safe operating environment and meet industry standards.
6. Oversee the operation and maintenance of airport lighting systems, including runway, taxiway, and terminal lighting, ensuring optimal visibility and safety for aircraft and passengers.
Sustainability:
9. Manage the energy management system, implementing strategies to optimize energy usage, reduce operational costs, and improve sustainability through energy-efficient technologies and practices.
10. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and innovations in electrical and power generation systems
to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability, staying abreast of industry advancements and best practices.
Stakeholder Management:
11. Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized electrical maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
12. Lead emergency response efforts for electrical failures or power outages, coordinating with airport operations and emergency services to ensure minimal disruption to airport activities and passenger safety.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
13. Develop and update standard operating procedures for electrical maintenance and power generation
activities, ensuring clear, comprehensive, and current guidelines for all staff to follow.
14. Prepare and present detailed reports on electrical system performance and maintenance activities to senior management, providing insights, analysis, and recommendations for ongoing improvements and strategic planning.
15. Implement and maintain advanced monitoring systems for real-time tracking of electrical system performance and energy consumption, using data analytics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Team Collaboration and Development:
16. Supervise and coordinate the activities of electrical maintenance staff, providing technical guidance, support, and training to ensure high standards of work and safety are maintained.
17. Work collaboratively with team members by sharing knowledge, providing support, and actively participating in team activities, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
18. Pursue continuous learning by seeking feedback, attending training sessions, and staying updated on industry trends, enhancing personal skills and professional growth.
