Job Purpose
Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive engineering designs that meet operational requirements, align with project timelines, and adhere to sustainability guidelines, ensuring practical, feasible, and high-quality outcomes.
Position Accountability Description
Operational Excellence
1. Collect and define comprehensive operational and other key requirements for the project, ensuring alignment with overall project goals and specifications.
2. Leverage experience in engineering design, preferably within a specific discipline, while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil engineers and participating in project planning meetings to ensure design milestones align with project timelines for smooth execution.
3. Review and interpret design submissions, technical specifications, drawings, and engineering calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
4. Analyze design reports and technical documentation, while developing and optimizing preliminary design solutions using CAD software and other engineering tools when necessary.
5. Collaborate with the Technical Support team to ensure designs are practical, maintainable, and aligned with long-term operational goals and requirements.
6. Work closely with the bidding team to provide design-related information for feasibility assessments in bid proposals, ensuring realistic and achievable designs.
7. Coordinate with the Project Execution team to verify the feasibility of designs, ensuring they can be effectively implemented within project constraints.
8. Review detailed design drawings, plans, and technical documentation, and review these with airport management to ensure compliance with operational and standard requirements.
9. Oversee the implementation of designs to ensure that they adhere to approved specifications and quality standards during construction or installation.
10.Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational guidelines.
11.Implement a standardized process for managing design changes, ensuring that modifications are documented, assessed, and communicated effectively.
12.Perform regular design reviews to identify potential issues early in the design phase and implement corrective actions as necessary.
13.Assess the performance of completed designs through post-implementation reviews, incorporating feedback to refine and improve future designs.
Engineering Design & Implementation
14.Develop initial design concepts if the design is not awarded to a consultant firm, ensuring alignment with project goals and specifications.
15.Coordinate with the Project Execution team to verify the feasibility of designs, ensuring they can be effectively implemented within project constraints.
16.Establish and enforce design standards to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with relevant local and international codes, standards, and regulations.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
17.Collaborate with external consultant firms to ensure that their designs meet all project requirements and standards.
18.Coordinate with the Project Management team to align design milestones with project timelines and ensure effective project execution.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
19.Ensure that the development of sustainable projects and initiatives, adhering to Matarat guidelines, and share the tender files with Support Services for further processing.
20.Pursue continuous learning by staying up-to-updated on industry trends and advancements in engineering design to enhance personal skills and improve team performance.
Team Collaboration and Continuous Learning
21.Work collaboratively with team members by sharing knowledge, providing support, and actively participating in team activities, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
