Environmental Sustainability (SMP)

1. Job Purpose

Prepare and implement environmental sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with Matarat guidelines and regulatory standards, while promoting environmental stewardship and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the organization.

2. Position Accountability Description

Policy Development & Compliance

1.           Draft policies and procedures related to environmental management, ensuring documents are comprehensive, clear, and aligned with regulatory and organizational standards, supporting effective implementation and compliance.

2.           Prepare detailed reports and documentation on the organization's environmental performance, ensuring alignment with Matarat strategy and regulatory compliance to drive sustainable practices and enhance overall environmental stewardship.

3.           Amend environmental compliance procedures based on audit findings and new regulations to ensure the organization consistently meets or exceeds environmental standards, proactively addressing any gaps in compliance.

4.           Adapt existing environmental policies to reflect the latest best practices and regulatory changes, ensuring all updates are effectively communicated and integrated within the organization to maintain compliance and drive sustainability.

Inspections & Audits

5.           Inspect facilities and operations for environmental compliance, identifying potential risks and recommending corrective actions to mitigate environmental impact, formulating a proactive approach to environmental management.

6.           Assist in conducting regular environmental audits and assessments, preparing documentation, and following up on action items to ensure timely resolution and continuous improvement.

Community & Partnerships

7.           Develop partnerships with external organizations and community groups to support sustainability projects, engaging in activities that enhance the organization's environmental impact and reputation, and promoting collaborative environmental efforts.

8.           Communicate with stakeholders to align on sustainability goals and initiatives, ensuring a unified approach and leveraging external expertise to enhance environmental programs.

Education & Awareness

9.           Create educational materials and resources to promote environmental stewardship among employees, fostering a culture of sustainability and compliance within the organization, and driving engagement in sustainability initiatives.

10.        Organize and conduct training sessions on environmental practices and policies, ensuring that all staff are informed and capable of implementing sustainable practices in their daily activities.

Initiative Tracking & Improvement

11.        Track the implementation of environmental initiatives and their outcomes, using data to measure effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and suggest enhancements to ensure ongoing alignment with sustainability goals and regulations.

12.        Analyze environmental data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.

Sustainability Initiatives

13.        Assist in the planning and execution of sustainability projects, ensuring that initiatives are completed on time, within budget, and achieve desired outcomes.

14.        Identify and propose innovative solutions to enhance sustainability practices, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

Documentation & Record-Keeping

15.        Maintain accurate records of all environmental management activities, including audits, inspections, incident reports, and training sessions, ensuring documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for review.

16.        Prepare and submit detailed reports on environmental performance to management and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Compliance Assurance

17.        Monitor changes in environmental regulations and standards, ensuring that the organization remains compliant and proactively addressing potential impacts on operations.

18.        Develop and implement corrective actions for non-compliance issues, ensuring timely resolution and preventing future occurrences.

Collaboration & Learning

19.        Work collaboratively with team members by sharing knowledge, providing support, and actively participating in team activities, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Contribute to the development and tracking of KPIs to monitor individual and team performance.
