Security System Specialist

1. Job Purpose

Oversee the effective operation and maintenance of advanced security systems, including but not limited to: X-RAY machines, Walk-Through Metal Detectors (WTMD), Hand-Held Metal Detectors (HHMD), security operational control centers equipment, and explosive detection equipment. Ensure maintaining a secure and safe environment within the airport, facilitating smooth airport operations, and ensuring the safety of all passengers, staff, and facilities. Implement security measures and protocols to protect airport premises, personnel, and passengers, conducting regular audits, managing incidents, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders to maintain high-security standards.

2. Position Accountability Description

Security Implementation & Management

1.           Implement security measures and protocols in accordance with GACA’s National Aviation Security Program, ensuring adherence to Dammam Airports standards and all regulatory requirements to protect the airport premises and personnel from potential threats and vulnerabilities.

2.           Prepare detailed security reports and documentation for all incidents, ensuring all relevant information is accurately recorded and easily accessible for future reference and compliance audits, maintaining a high standard of organizational security records.

3.           Oversee the operation and maintenance of all security equipment such as: X-RAY machines for personal &vehicles, WTMD, HHMD, security prevention equipment, and explosive detection equipment.

4.           Amend existing security SOPs to reflect changes in regulatory requirements and operational needs, ensuring continuous risk mitigation and improvement in security measures to adapt to the evolving security landscape.

5.           Ensure all security systems comply with GACA regulations and other relevant security standards.

6.           Assist in the planning and implementation of security system upgrades and new installations.

7.           Generate detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities.

8.           Support the delivery of security services that influence and/or provide the security infrastructure for security agencies at Dammam Airports.

9.           Provide support in coordinating security drills, exercises, and simulations to ensure readiness for various security scenarios, working closely with other team members and relevant stakeholders to maintain a high level of preparedness.

10.        Troubleshoot across various technologies to find the root cause of the fault, this may include dealing with multiple teams in other departments.

11.        Support aviation security compliance relationships with general authority of civil aviation and MATARAT.

12.        Formulate security access control plans, including the issuance of permanent or temporary security cards and permits, to ensure controlled access to airport facilities and compliance with security procedures, enhancing overall access management.

13.        Inform relevant authorities and stakeholders about any suspicious activities or security breaches, ensuring swift and appropriate response to mitigate risks and maintain safety, while upholding communication protocols.

14.        Execute response plans tailored to specific security incidents, coordinating with emergency services and other relevant authorities to ensure effective containment and resolution of the situation, maintaining a structured approach to incident management.

15.        Provide training and guidance to security personnel on the proper use of airport security equipment.

16.        Create a culture of security awareness among airport staff and stakeholders by conducting training sessions, workshops, and informational briefings on best practices and protocols, promoting a proactive security mindset.

Reporting & Documentation

17.        Maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, and measures taken, ensuring all documentation is thorough, up-to-date, and readily available for audits and reviews.

18.        Compile and present detailed reports on security incidents, including analysis and recommendations, to senior management and relevant stakeholders to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

19.        Review and update security procedures and protocols regularly to align with the latest regulations and best practices, ensuring ongoing compliance and enhancement of security measures.

20.        Conduct regular assessments of security systems and practices to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed to strengthen overall security.

21.        Collaborate with external security experts and consultants to integrate advanced security technologies and methodologies, staying ahead of emerging threats and enhancing the overall security infrastructure.

22.        Engage in incident debriefs and post-event evaluations to learn from security breaches or drills, identifying lessons learned and implementing changes to improve future security responses and protocols.

23.        Keeps abreast of the latest security and privacy legislations, industry standards, regulations, and advisories

Training and Development

24.        Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about the latest security trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.

25.        Participate in team-building activities and workshops to enhance collaboration and effectiveness within the security team.

26.        Reviews new and existing standards, regulations, guidance, best practices, policies and customer initiatives to maintain expertise and add business value.
