Electrical Backup System Senior Manager

Job Purpose

Lead the planning, management, and continuous improvement of the electrical backup systems, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), batteries, and emergency lighting for Dammam Airports facilities. Ensure the reliability and efficiency of critical backup power systems, maintaining operational readiness and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Position Accountability Description

Strategic Leadership

1.           Develop and implement a strategic plan for the maintenance and optimization of electrical backup systems, ensuring alignment with Dammam Airports overall operational goals and infrastructure requirements.

2.           Oversee the daily operations of generators, UPS, batteries, and emergency lighting systems to ensure uninterrupted functionality during power outages and critical events.

3.           Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of electrical backup systems, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Operational Excellence

5.           Lead the regular maintenance, testing, and inspection of backup power systems (generators, UPS, batteries, emergency lighting) to ensure they are always operationally ready.

6.           Develop and manage the implementation of implement preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical backup systems to minimize downtime and extend system lifecycles.

7.           Ensure compliance with operational safety standards by conducting regular inspections and assessments of electrical backup systems and their associated infrastructure.

8.           Oversee the installation and commissioning of new generators, UPS units, batteries, and emergency lighting systems, ensuring they meet Dammam Airports operational standards and regulatory requirements.

9.           Coordinate the seamless integration of electrical backup systems with the primary power supply to ensure automatic and immediate activation during power outages.

10.        Oversee troubleshooting and repair activities for electrical backup systems, ensuring timely responses to any system malfunctions to prevent operational disruptions.

11.        Ensure that critical backup power systems, such as those supporting security systems, communications, and essential operational areas, are prioritized and properly maintained.

12.        Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that electrical backup systems meet the power demands of airport operations during emergencies or peak load scenarios.

13.        Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, tests, and repairs, ensuring full compliance with internal and external auditing requirements.

14.        Lead the development of energy-efficient strategies for backup power management, optimizing fuel consumption, battery life, and energy efficiency without compromising operational readiness.

Financial Management

15.        Control the budget for the Electrical Backup Systems unit, monitoring expenditures related to maintenance, fuel consumption, and upgrades, while identifying cost-saving opportunities to enhance system efficiency and financial performance.

16.        Prepare budget reports for senior management, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning, with a focus on optimizing energy consumption, system upgrades, and emergency preparedness.

Compliance and Best Practices

17.        Ensure that all electrical backup systems comply with local and international regulations related to electrical safety, energy management, and environmental impact.

18.        Develop and manage a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for electrical backup systems, ensuring rapid restoration of power in the event of system failure or power outage.

19.        Conduct regular audits and reviews of electrical backup systems to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with best practices and industry standards.
